Anatomy of Pain….Food, Animals & Us

Anatomy of Pain….. You know, it’s all in the body

So yesterday I finally relented and listened to my body – I had a feeling I needed some of my Rebel Remedy for a couple of days to help me shift this whateveritwas that was coming up for me….so I took some and then went about my day….

Of course it worked, I felt better and life goes on. What came up was really interesting though, and gave me a few more insights into why I feel so strongly about the way we go about living our lives and growing our own food as much as possible.

I have been on about food, nutrition, eating, diet, cooking and all things to do with the stuff we put into our bodies for such a long time. I have spent years as a vegetarian, a vegan (healing from cancer) and now – well I don’t have an exact name for the way we eat, except we….

Eat Like Pagans! LOL

So what came up for me from my body was ‘pain’, hurt and discomfort. Yet somehow I knew it wasn’t all mine, it was something that was rising up from my bones….for days (weeks?) I hurt physically, not a huge amount, just enough to be uncomfortable.

But I had been putting it down to the workouts I have been doing. You know the kind of aches that come along with moving muscles, joints and bones and pushing yourself a little harder then usual? It sort of feels good for awhile, but it also should settle down as your body adjusts to the new movements.

Well, by Sunday morning I was just aching. My ankles, knees, shoulders, and back all sort of hurt and I had to get to the bottom of it once and for all. So I poured up some of my Rebel Remedy tincture (I make this for trauma, inner pain, shock and acute stress) and sipped this in water…

Of course then I went on with my day and kind of forgot about things because I was feeling more like myself! But this morning once I got up and went to start my workout I remembered what I was feeling yesterday, because I was feeling so much better.

I realized some of this ‘pain’ I had taken on was from meat…animal flesh I had eaten over a lifetime until a few years ago when I decided to do something quite different. At the time my only option was to stop eating meat altogether in order to clean out my body and to detox.

To be honest I never fully realized until this past week that some of the stuff I have been releasing and detoxing are emotional trauma suffered by the animals (food, meat, milk, cheese) during their lives and certainly on their way to their deaths.

I just assumed it was more of my own stuff from when I was bullied….it was so familiar to me. Which then led me to wonder if the animals themselves perceive being pushed, poked, dragged and proded to their deaths as being bullied? Or maybe it’s also how they might ‘feel’ being kept in an enclosed confined space with hundreds (thousands?) of other animals in a battery farm operation…..

How can I be so very certain about some of these facts on how food animals are raised and treated? I worked for many years as a Food Hygiene Inspector – I was the one who carried out ante and post mortem inspection of food animals. In cold barns, abattoirs, meat lockers and kill floors – I saw it all.

I was also the one who threatened to pull licenses and shut down the plant for any notion of cruelty or bullying. And I was the one who could calmly walk an injured, old or frightened animal down the chute to the kill floor without the need for an electric prod or any harm done.

After all these animals were giving up their lives to be our food….Just from an understanding of what was to come, a little gentleness - this animal was not going to be ill handled on my watch.

Needless to say over the years I have spent quite a large portion of my life meat free. But, once I was in a position to raise, grow and manage my own food animals, this is what we do for our own needs.

And our own consciousness.

The only meat I eat now is what I can raise myself, it’s only a limited amount, so when the meat runs out we are vegetarians for the rest of the year! However, I know each animal is treated (loved!) well, fed organically, interacted with, has space to roam and enjoy their time with us just being animals.

All animals which are destined for food on our tables, should be treated with respect through every stage of their existence and not bullied or mishandled in any way. This improves the quality of the meat and the quality of our lives equally.

Do unto others…..

So….all of this has been coming up for me because I took my remedy for trauma and shock. Perhaps now I will expand its’ uses and benefits to cover bullying as well.

Vibrational Shift....

Today is a feast day - and for us this means lots of food and tasty treats we wouldn't otherwise have very often. But it also means many other things as well - this time of year especially is all about the return of light breaking through the darkness.

I don't know about you, but there is often nothing darker then some of the foods that people are expected to eat and perhaps nothing more evil then the energy they contain. Food is like anything else really - when depleted it will fill up on whatever it is exposed to.

And if that happens to be drained, poorly paid, unhappy employees, clanging machinery, in a profit driven company - then that's what the food will carry. It's the same with people, once our systems are pulled down by life, stress, poor diets, over exposure to chemicals and toxins, we too have a low vibration.

It takes an enormous amount of energy to pull ourselves back up from some of the dark depths we might be found in...

However, all is not lost! Once you begin to make any effort at all, with even the tiniest of intentions, your body will more then meet you half way and work very hard to come back into proper alignment within. This means balancing and bringing back normal function in all tissues and organs.

Today was perhaps the most anticipated day (in a collective global sense) we have seen in some time on this planet. With so many of us considering the changes, energy shifts and perhaps endings associated with this date - I wonder if some other important aspects were lost in the shuffle.

The only way to change your body in a healthy meaningful way (this changes your mind and spirit too by the way) is to alter your diet and the water you drink. Take this a little bit further and the only way to shift into a higher cellular vibrational frequency (or to experience states of higher expanded consciousness) is to change your diet and the water you drink!

It really all is this simple and today was a giant leap forward towards breaking free of the old ways that have enslaved humanity for a very long time. We are moving forwards into very interesting times indeed...

Spiritual Growth & Expansion of Consciousness

Well, these last few days I have cooked, baked and eaten lots of nice things including one of our own turkeys - which I have mentioned on my other blog. But, needless to say it was fabulous and I am not sure what was better - the taste and texture or the fact that we raised it ourselves and knew exactly what went into it's every moment of life...

We finished the last of the turkey today - and I don't feel like I've had too much at all. It was enjoyable - the spiritual connection of the food is what has become so important to me. And now I feel as if I am finally experiencing it.

I also feel like this when I eat something from my garden and I can't wait for my winter vegetables to come into season - we have kale, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, broccoli, winter spinach, and still lots of herbs I am using as often as I can.

When you plant, grow, tend, feed and otherwise get involved with your food on this intimate level, your own essence also goes back into you. All the energy you are expending to do this work, your effort and output, comes back wrapped up in little morsels of food.

However there is one difference, your own energy (which you want back by the way) has been transformed in some ways. It is now a little bit different - you are filling up on plant, flesh and blood which has expanded somewhat to take into itself elements of wind, earth and water.

Your own energy has then come back full circle - completed a cycle of season, change, growth and renewal all for your benefit through the plants, herbs and animals you are raising for your food. Nothing could be healthier or better for your own spiritual growth and expansion of consciousness.

This is an amazing process that I am certain the ancient Pagans knew full well...and we are only rediscovering.

Love In The Making...

If I were to be completely honest about the true way that I want to live - the way that I have always dreamed of living, it would be to create, source, grow, make, cook and provide all of my own food. And of course, through doing this as a family we would be even healthier, stronger in body and spirit without much energy coming in from outside sources.

Most people would look at us and think that already we are pretty well free from food and lifestyle of the majority - and we are. I do not eat the same foods as others, I always cook our own meals, which are mainly vegetarian unless it is a feast day or festival. However, we got to a point that we were feeling stuck in our souls - unable to move forward any further towards our goals, and I feel that this remaining 'food' that was coming into our diets from outside sources, was the sticking point.

Even though I have been doing this for a little while now, there are still areas for improvement and you would probably not be surprised how easily processed foods creep back in to our food chain when we get busy. There is a lot I want to say about eating this food - the first thing is that it is devoid of love. Machines, people just doing a job, government regulations, corporate rules, bottom lines and business plans - do not place a lot of 'love energy' into the final product.

Why is this a real problem for those of us wanting to walk the talk and follow a spiritual path you might be asking? It is because, when food is empty of love, it fills up with something else - and this is fear. When an energy is removed (during processing) something else comes in to fill the void, like a vacuum.  So, we have been consuming fear, it doesn't feel good and I am doing something about it.

I started with jams because this is something that we would eat a lot of - sugar free jam is also relatively easy to make as well. Over the years I would have considered we were buying some of the best quality jams and I have enjoyed them. They are tasty and full of fruit - however, they are still made in a factory which is processed food and contains the negative qualities that I no longer want in my body.

Last night, I decided to start out on the right foot, I researched how to use my glass jars for the jams and followed all the instructions to the letter - at the end of the evening I was sitting down, listening as each jar lid popped and sealed. Exactly as it was supposed to do.

So, I was pleased with the good start. We now have 8 jars of peach and nectarine ginger jam! And I am delighted with it. Of course, it is fruit season right now, so I want to carry on with making quite a few more jams for the winter - you might be hearing a lot about jam making in the coming days. (smile)

I also realized how much more equipment I need to get, as well as to source more jars. I can see that I am going to be busy with this - and of course, there is nothing I would love more.

Have a great day,

April

Some remaining jars waiting for labels - the half filled one, will be enjoyed as soon as we are finished our Master Cleanse!
